Lords of The New Church

Lords of The New Church - Lords of The New Church
A supergroup formed out of some prolific bands featuring Stiv Bators (Dead Boys), Brian James (The Damned), Dave Tregunna (Sham 69), and Nicky Turner (The Barracudas). The group ran from 1982 to 1989 and brought the unholy trinity of Glam, Goth, and Punk. It is an outstanding first album that should find itself in the collection of anyone who likes one, if not all, of these genres. Shop here

The Angry Samoans - Inside My Brain
This legendary early Punk band formed in Los Angeles in 1978 by two rock writers, Metal Mike Saunders and Gregg Turner. Filling out the lineup Todd Homer, Bill Vockeroth, and Bonze Blayk (brother of Metal Mike). This is a fast, kick-to-the-head, rude piece of wax playing at 45RPMs and coming in at 23 minutes. Produced by Lee Ving of Fear. This raw and reckless release doesn't disappoint! Shop here

Victims Family - Headache Remedy
Victims Family is a hard band to pin down musically. Their diverse sound included many different genres of music including, jazz, funk, and hardcore, which they were known for in the underground San Francisco music scene. I believe they definitely took some cues from ALL and The Minutemen, with their chaotic/improvisational sound and made it their own. If you are a fan of those bands, more than likely you will be a fan of this one. Shop here

Alice Bag - Violence Girl
Alice Bags, who fronted one of the original Los Angeles punks bands The Bags, came out with this great compilation. The Artifix release includes alternate mixes and recordings you can't find nowhere else. The five bands featuring Alice are The Bags, Castration Squad, Stay at Home Bomb, Goddess 13, and Cholita. It is a great mix of this artist that shows her true undeniable talent that she possesses. Alice cemented herself into punk rock history. Fun fact: Tom Waits attended one of her shows and challenged Nicky Beat to a fight! Shop here

The Cramps - Big Black Witchcraft Rock
Bubbling just under the surface of the explosive New York punk scene came the progenitors of psychobilly. Led by the only constant members Lux Interior and Poison Ivy originally hailing from Sacramento California. They made the trek across the nation and found probably the only music scene that would accept them, the New York CBGB club. From there, they had a long career that came to an end with the death of Lux Interior in 2009. Big Black Witchcraft Rock is the last single released by the band and comes on red vinyl. Shop here

Jane's Addiction - Whole Lotta Love/ Slow Diver

Jane's Addiction - Whole Lotta Love / Slow Diver
Jane's Addiction was formed in the mid-eighties in Los Angeles. They were one of the bands that helped lead the mainstream rock scene away from the distasteful years of over the top hair metal. The band consisted of Perry Farrell, Stephen Perkins, Eric Avrey, and Dave Navarro. This is an oddity in their catalog, Jane's Addiction covering Led Zepplin covers, captured live and and on red vinyl no less. Shop here

Flogging Molly - The Seven Deadly Sins \ (No More) Paddy's Lament
After The breakup of the Metal band Fastway and the demise Katmandu, Dave King was looking for what was to come next. After he left Epic records due to their reluctance to feature traditional Irish instruments in his future recordings, he found his new calling. Flogging Molly is a powerhouse in the Punk Rock scene and didn't have to sacrifice their integrity. They have been going strong since their inception and doesn't look to be slowing down. This is the Limited 2010 Record Store Day edition, limited to 2,000 copies, and on red vinyl. Shop here

Crimpshire - Quit Talkin' Claude...
Crimpshire, or elements of it, were kicking around the Berkley scene since around 1982. It has been home to well-known names such as Aaron Cometbus, Jeff Ott, Jesse Michaels, and Tim Armstrong. Jesse Michaels and Tim Armstong would go onto form Operation Ivy. Crimpshire became more serious in 1986, playing live shows and they began releasing music. Alas it was not to be, and they broke up in 1989. This is the last single released before their demise and if you like the Berkley scene, get this record. Shop here

The Cure - Why Can't I Be You?
The Cure have been recognized as the creators of Goth rock. Formed in 1976 in the emerging English New Wave/Punk exposition, Robert Smith is the only constant member, but that's ok because Robert Smith is God! This is a promotional copy of the first single released off their hit album Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss me, that catapulted The Cure to international success. Comes with the album cut on the A-side and an extended remix clocking in at 8:04 minutes. Any true fan of The Cure should grab this up.
